An 11 year old girl and her 15 year old boyfriend, located in Clearwater, Florida are accused of conspiring to kill the girl's mother. On Tuesday, the duo reportedly set the woman, Nancy Broadhead, on fire by dousing her bed and floor with gasoline as she slept. After igniting the fuel, the kids stole Broadhead's car and fled the scene.

Around 1 a.m., Broadhead was awakened by a smoke detector and was able to escape her burning home on Huntington Lane. She was initially taken to Morton Plant Hospital for serious burns and smoke inhalation; however, her injuries were severe enough to warrant a transfer to the burn unit of Tampa General Hospital.

After the girl returned to the scene, the Clearwater Police Department took her in for questioning. Her accomplice was located at a friend's house and also taken into custody. The 11 year old girl is being evaluated for a psychiatric assessment; however, she and her boyfriend have been charged with both attempted murder and arson. The boy is facing a grand theft auto charge for fleeing the mother's car, which was recovered in a church parking lot.

Police are still investigating a motive, but Broadhead admitted that she had confronted her daughter about stealing some of her cigarettes. This year there have been eight reports of Social Services visiting the family's home
