There was a game I played online several years ago that was kind of like this. You started the game and it was as if you were an employee of the company. Then top secret CIA stuff started happening, but the bad guys didn't know about you because you were new. So people would email you or IM you clues and you had to go to different sites and figure out the cluse to advance the game. They would sometimes call you with clues. One night they called me at about 4am with some information. Scared the hell out of me.

The game ended up not going very far because they released it in "chapters" once you got through the chapter you had to wait until the next month to get the next chapter. If you finished it all in 1-2 days you waited 28 days to play more. It was kind of cool though and was a form of an internet treasure hunt.
