Fraudsters impersonating CCBill

Yesterday an attempted fraudulent use of my credit card occurred -- the billing company being CCBill. I phoned CCBill regarding this, and what an ordeal that was. First, it was necessary to demand to speak with a supervisor after numbnuts told me that CCBill does not track any information that would help me identify the fraud. I specifically asked if CCBill does not, like I think every online billing company does, track (at the very least) IP address info used in the tranaction? I was told that they do not do this on an individual basis -- that there is a separate department, that he cannot communicate with, that only tracks whether a large volume of fraud is coming from a single IP, but not on an individual transaction basis. I asked if, then, they would not have information on what site, using CCBill as a processor, the transaction came from. Again, I was told that this is not tracked -- CCBill apparently would have no way of knowing what site a specific transaction came from.

Anyway ..... long story longer ... I finally get connected with a supervisor. This is where things got a little more interesting, when I was told that CCBill never tried to process my card -- they have no record of this occurring. So, I asked if they say that they have not tried to process my card, and my credit card company says it was them, then is it possible that someone is pretending to be CCBill for fraudulent purposes. I was told that this HAS occurred in the past, but that he is not aware of any current active cases of this type of fraud occurring. Very interesting indeed. As, if it happened in the past, and given that today CCBill says they didn't charge my card, but someone named CCBill DID try (according to my bank) then it looks to me like it would be the most obvious answer -- someone is again pretending to be CCBill.
