yup VCD's were like LD's.. better quality than VHS but still a pain in the ass.. LD's were $40-60 per movie so you had to really love the movie to want to buy it and LDs are 2 sided.. My 3rd LD player was 2 side play but even then the was a 8 second lapse in the movie while the laser moved to the other side of the disc.. I had a local record store that rented out LD's and I bought like 20 movies on LD that I really loved but rented them all the time.. Oh yeah LD's were not to be left in your car in the summer for any amount of time cause they would warp way easier than cds
