Most programs have a "no exceptions" policy to self-joins in place, it would seem, to prevent you from discovering their shave. Money is not lost by a webmaster doing a test signup with his own account.
On a slightly different note, Zombaio has something in their TOS that says it's somehow against VISA regulations to allow a webmaster to join their own site. Not sure why
that would be...
