Easy. Nobody in the entertainment business has any imagination. Movies and music -- same thing. They are businesspeople who don't like to risk capital on new ideas. Remakes have a built-in fan base to start with and the formula has proven successful in the past. They don't care about creativity of true art. They care about money. William Hung and K-Fed both got major label deals with exactly ZERO talent because someone thought they could make a fast buck. In the case of K-Fed, it didn't work.
Thank goodness for the independent production companies and record labels and the internet. In 20 years, the entertainment industry will be MUCH DIFFERENT than it is today.
