Doesnt have to be a new account....just a new domain purchase paying by c/card....(not paypal) maybe everyone used it today for ipad domains as its limited to 7-10k of registrations total....would need someone else to try it to confirm if it has indeed expired..if so must have been a huge rush today as ususally it takes longer to expire.
Its also limited to one registration per customer.
