I was married for 16 years now. Although I've married because my wife was pregnant and I felt like it was the right thing to do (basically because I cared and loved her) I'm still married and still love her. If I have to explain it why people get married, I don't know, each one will have his/her reasons. Who knows, maybe I'll divorce tomorrow, but at least I've lived the best 16 years of my life.
And btw, I know few people who is old and single, so maybe this is not statistically accurate. But of those I know, I don't know of a single one that doesn't regret his decision.
