The reason this happens is because these cars are mostly leased. Since BMW doesn't offer a used car leasing program the value of these cars drop since there is a smaller market for it used. Add to that the fact that those leases all hit the market at the same time after 2-3 years and you have the reason that prices are so low. Maintenance costs used to be a huge factor but not as much now with the "certified" programs most of these new car dealerships have now to add some $$$$ back to the used car price.

The good thing about it though is that the late model 745's are fairly reliable and depreciation slows down after the 4 year mark.
