What he said was not to watch Fox, CNN or MSNBC, in other words, the news! Being informed to public opinion would hurt his agenda.
He said this because Fox news is the number one cable news network and they aren't allies to Obama, he has tried to censor them, but the other networks demanded that he stop that, try to keep up, I know it's hard!

He was speaking to other politicians and telling them, " Just turn off the TV -- MSNBC, blogs -- and just go talk to folks out there, instead of being in this echo chamber where the topic is constantly politics. ... It is much more difficult to get a conversation focused on how are we going to help people than a conversation about how is this going to help or hurt somebody politically."
So telling the political leaders to stop listening to pundits and "analysts" and news anchors and telling them to go out and talk to the voters and to talk to each other about solving their problems is a bad thing?
