Obviously the 10,000 random college educated people will be better off because it still takes commitment and some smarts to get through college.
Of the 10,000 non-college people, a good chunk will be total fuckups in life. However, from that 10,000 you'll also get some that are far more successful than those in the college educated group.
So for those really successful non-college educated people, college isn't that important now is it?
It all boils down to the makeup of the individual.
