I understand people don't like spam, but jeez loueez, if you don't want your kids getting it, there are lots of solutions from which to choose. The most basic approach is to use an ISP, or mail service, or even local mail client that supports "approved sender" lists. As kids get older, you might want to switch to a "reply for approval" shielding system to allow more autonomy.

If you allow anyone in the world to send whatever they want to your kid's screen, don't be surprised when porn, or worse, turns up. Whine all you want about "but I shouldn't have to" (it's true, you shouldn't), but that isn't going to change anything.
