The last known full copy of the game to change hands sold for $7500 back in 2008. There were only an estimated 2000 copies sold through woolworth's in 87 before the game was scrapped. Stadium Events then was renamed to the World Class Track Meet that everybody had.

In the 80's during the big video game explosion this happened all the time. Everybody was trying their hand at creating games, Soda companies, tooth paste companies, dog food companies. They were cranking out games, especially for the 2600. These games had short runs, and limited supplies. Leading to many ultra rare games out of the 80's that are collectors dreams.

ANother example of a high pricetagged NES game.

Currently a BIN of $1175
