chink originated from CHInese North Korean, like a lot of these nicknames, a lot of them have been turned into racial slurs but most have fairly innocent origins, they're only racist if there's malice behind saying it.

here in the UK paki used to be just a short name for a pakistani but is now considered racist, because of the way the word was used as a slur.
