K figured it out - for anyone else searching here is the solution:
nav to /ucjdata/ and set your ftp to show hidden files.
Open and edit .htpasswd
Delete everything after ucj:
Save and re-upload
Login to your interface without putting in a password - then change it to something you'll remember!
Voila.
