The belgium speak french. Which was the language used when the belgiums cooked potato in the fryers at the time of the war.

"French" to leave little on. To french a rack of lamb you cook with only the fat left on the ends.

French fries, pommes frites, chips or may other names to mean Fried potato. Potatoes fryed in oil then drained to leave little oil on the potato. French-fried potatoes.

Nothing to do with where they come from, Its the way they care cooked.
