Same here. I think the age you first experience a movie at has alot to do with how you perceive it as an adult. I have a soft spot for Howard, my sig other had not seen it and when I finally tracked down a copy a few years ago (it wasn't out on DVD until March of last year) I was crushed when he hated it. Not just didn't care for, absolutely hated it. I wanted to punch him in the face
I think Goonies might be the same way. This was an EPIC movie for me as a wee one. To this day if I see it on TV I will usually watch it and love it just the same as when it came out. One of my best buds is a little over a decade older than me had never seen it. Finally got him to watch it recently and it didn't completely fail but for obvious reasons fell a little flat. I guess you can't expect a movie aimed at 6 to 12 year olds to resonate w/ someone entering their 40s.
