I have used hostgator for the last 2-3 years now and I have never had a problem with them so I really dont know why you guys are saying hostgator are shit.
They always answer support messages and have 24 hour live support which I have used on a number of occasions even though it was my fuckup they still sorted the problem out for me.
The bottom line is if you are looking for a cheap host then Hostgator are good
