An amusing story about selling to Mayfair.
During the late the early 80s I was doing porn as a sideline and my main job was selling office furniture. One afternoon after seeing a client I decided to knock on a few doors and found a publisher that was refurbishing his building and sold him on the idea of me putting in a proposal for new furniture. This involved me going around the building seeing what people had, needed and wanted.
There was editors of Bike or Car or Gardening or DIY magazines and I was taking down the details and saying nice things about there magazines. I then walked into the office of a guy who had Mayfair magazines laid out on his table and found out he was the editor.
Got into talking to him, showed him a picture of my wife shot nude on a balcony in the South of France and he told me to go shoot a set of her for his mag. That was my first sale to a magazine.
Also got the contract to renew all the office furniture. Nice earner.
