Terrible things happen in war, good people are pushed to the brink and do terrible things. It's not their fault, but that's how it is. A generation is lost to the violence and the lasting effects of growing up in a war zone. Soldiers and their families deal with the effects for decades after they come home.
The effects of one year of war can last for a hundred years.
Why politicians think that you can have a "clean" war is beyond me. With such dire consequences for everyone involved, a civilized society should only consider war as last resort.
