A very small percentage of people who quit actually succeed by quitting coldturkey. The few who do succeed this way love to tout it as "the only way" because it is by a long shot the method which requires you as an individual to put the most effort in. at least that's my take on it.

I haven't smoked in a little over 4 months now and this time I used the nicorette inhaler for about 2 weeks or so. Made it much easier than ever having to go cold turkey. Quitting cold turkey will turn you into an irritable agitated fuck. Not so much with the inhaler, and it also keeps your whole muscle memory/habit occupied in the mean time. I imagine e-cigs would work along these lines too.

In the end it all boils down to willpower, but having a little extra something to help ween you off is nice. I stand by the inhaler, has BY FAR been the best transition from smoking to nonsmoking i've experienced.
Yr post says it all.....
