haha oh man. its all situational really. its like hiring anyone else, you judge them based on their credentials. i'm lucky, i've hired some of my friends and its worked out fine as well as hired new people and they became my friends. i know some people will always have "it can work" or "terrible idea" but you really should just look past the friendship and see if they are qualified for it.
if they are, they won't take advantage of your friendship
