I have a friend of mine who has "water on the brain". While he's never been through something like this, he's had constant pressure on his brain to the point where it's knocked him out for days at a time. He's partially retarded now. I pray she doesn't have to go through this.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have a friend who also suffers from this condition but she has had really good luck throughout her life with the stints they put in. Once every 3-5 years there is an issue that puts her in the hospital where they need maintanence / adjustments, but nothing that has had any permanent effect. I've always felt very bad for her having to go through that so often, but hearing this puts it in perspective. My condolences for your friend and his fam.
