I spoke to an official from the NHL after the game, and the reason they say kicking motion is his toe was lifted upwards and foot going foward... hence a kicking motion, hence no goal. Just as the rules say, same as you only allowed 5 skaters on the ice not 6.. hence the too many men penalty in OT.
Maybe Canadians live by a different set of rules. Maybe if Luongo could stop a beachball, theyd be ahead in this series. Stop whining.
