I tried texting for purposes of dating with the cell phone mobile device. I still it is better to talk about when and where to meet face to face instead of sending texts. My face to face conversations with women sure have been more effective at setting up time and place to meet than text messages or phone calls.
With women that I am too shy to meet it is a whole different story. Usually I just walk away after saying nothing or after saying one or few words.
