I take the contrarian view. I live in a country with abysmally low agri yields. One of the greatest things, in my view, about America is its stunning ability to feed its people. Low food prices, amazing infrastructure (from farm to postharvest facility to distribution to retail to consumer), and economy of scope and scale that provides a decent living to most of its farmers.

I know the grass is always greener and I *am* familiar with the issues posed by modern factory farming and chemical-dependent agribusiness. Still, just judging from my last visit to family friends in the provinces here in the Philippines struggling to eke out $50 worth of produce from a veggie plot month after month, I can only look with awed envy at American farmers' ability to feed the US.
