thats based on taking your 36 as the cubic units and going back to the height and radius of the cylinder then extrapolating that into the area formula of the rectangle. However to do it accurately i would need to see the question better as I am unsure of your volume number did you mean cubic inches? or feet etc.

Anyway this is a base answer done with the numbers and understanding i have of the question.
