Excellent and well said! I think this is what upset me most about MetaMan's obvious late-night drug-fueled rants. I'm 'special' in that, to me, what I've accomplished is fairly miraculous. But I know there are many, many, many on here (and not on here, but in the biz) who have similar success stories. I admire those who have worked their tail off in an industry and at a time when everything appears to be heading in the wrong financial directions.
So i come on here to, yes, do business, but to also learn. I try and contribute whatever lessons I myself may have picked up along the way, and i think some of it is valuable, but mostly I defer to those with more experience and success under their belts.
EXCEPT when said people go apeshit and start attacking people for no reason (other than either drugs, a chemical inbalance in their brain, insanely low self-esteem or worse). Then I lash out a little. LOL But mostly I try and do/be what you said, AmputateYourHead. Learn, defer, contribute where appropriate, and not be extraordinarily judgemental about another webmaster's 'situation' cause, chances are, I know NOTHING about that webmaster's "situation".
There are all kinds here on GFY - pros, semi-pros, hobbyists, surfers, etc etc. And people from all aspects of the biz - hosting, design, coding, affiliates, programs, etc. So we should all try to learn from each other, when possible, and not lash out or prop yourself up in an attempt to appear 'better' or 'more successful' than others.
Lastly, you gotta ask yourself two things when it comes to MetaMan's rants:
1. If he hates all of us so much why is he on GFY in the first place?
2. Is he trying to convince US he's great, or himself?
