You hit the nail on the head with that, CDSmith! For a reasonable investment of under $300, you can get a nice and compact LED that can either be mounted onto the camera's overhead shoe, or, even better, mounted onto any standard audio boom and held by an assistant to get the light in where it needs to be to illuminate the main point of the video content. Easy to find dimmer knob. Low-tech construction meets LED high-tech and works like a charm.

Runs on four AA batteries and has a filter snap on/off filter holder to stick in CTO or any other color correction gel you need, depending on your lighting. Just keep lots of fresh batteries handy as it will drain them down in a few hours, but way better than having yet another cord hanging off of another device for the camera operator to get tangled up in!
