I've got many, many thousands of dollars wrapped up in not only software but image, video, & audio stock as well. The benefit to possessing those pesky licenses for this material becomes evident when, for instance, someone comes out of the clear blue sky and accuses you of ripping a Snoop Dogg audio composition (song), and you can prove it is original work, and that you have license to the raw materials. (as well as the software used to create it.)
