yeah cats can survive in just about any situation.. they will drink rain water, eat bugs find warmth but part of the reason they often get in these kinds of situations is because when they get stuck somewhere like that they go hide to die, rather than make some noise and get someones attention..
my cat disappeared for 2 weeks, got locked in my next door neighbours basement some how and didn't meow a peep the whole time, was just chance that they even took a look down there and looked underneath the stairs where it was there laying down. Full recovery though.
