Affiliates freak out and programs get slammed if tours have a single link to another sponsor or an alternate billing processor, etc. However it's perfectly ok for an affiliate to use a sponsors branded name for their domain and the sponsors content to send traffic from that site (the sponsors branded domain and the sponsors content) to an unrelated sponsor. The mentality of some people in this industry never ceases to amaze me.

sorry i have to say that i dont see a problem with the scenario you posted. You always have a choice to discontinue the affiliate if you have a problem with it. Plain fact is you and the affiliate are in it to make money, if you don't feel it makes you more money or morally object to something , don't allow it, otherwise its a rather moot point.
example
i am affiliate , i make 10 "tribute" blogs etc like one posted make x sales per day make $x per day total all ads are for sponsor
i then add some other sponsor ads and make $x + extra , i can now afford to buy extra traffic, promote my sites, thus increasing my sales to you.
do you want x sales per day or x sales * 2 ?
