ridiculous support conversation ...

well, on some days i ask myself ... "how on earth can such dumbwits get a job at the support center of a host?" here we go: ...

me: heyas
well, i wanna make www.mydomain.com a fully functional site with trade script and such, but need some info about the server specs ... for the trade script i'd need the OS (http://www.arrowscripts.com/atl3_dl.shtml) ... but first of all, i need to know if php and such is allowed at all :/ plz holla me TIA

support: The OS is FreeBSD 7.x. There should not be any problems with PHP at all, however we would need a list of requirements to give you an informed response.

me: thx for the fast response, much appreciated
however, the script only asks for certain OSs,
so i dunno what else might be needed :/ i'll
simply try and see if it works 8) if i get stuck,
i'll be back at ya

me: well, trying to load the scripts install.cgi, i am redirected to
***.com doesnt look like the cgi-bin dir i created is
really active or supported plz advise - tia

support: We'll have to make a few verifications on our end. Can you let us know how exactly to replicate the issue? We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

support: Do you happen to know what IP address mydomain.com used to point to previously, when it was working ?

me: well, altho chmodded to match the install manual for ATC,
http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/atc/install.cgi brings
up www.***.com which clearly shows php or cgi (bin)
useage is not enabled by default ... but plz, hit me up on
ICQ to make it easier for both sides: ##########.. that way
i can report fail or success faster ;)

support: We will verify if it's possible and will get back to you asap.

support: Can you tell us how to replicate the issue? Where is install.cgi located? Are there credentials required?

me: huh? http://www.mydomain.com/ IS still working ... the problem is i am
redirected when trying to load the file install.cgi in the cgi-bin dir ... so, there
is no problem with dns or anything alike ... the prob IS the cgi-bin dir which
prolly isnt parsed and/or must be moved OUTSIDE the root ...

me: well, i am a lil frustrated ... i told ya the prob is with the CGI-BIN
and there is only ONE folder inside it ... ATC ... and inside that
is the install.cgi file :/ ... so, as mentioned before, the issue is
loading http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/atc/install.cgi (as
mentioned in my mail yesterday)... it redirects to ***.com
which indicates that either a) cgi-bin dir must be outside root or
b) cgi aint enabled or c) attributes of the cgi-bin dir are wrong ...

support: The install.cgi script contains code that redirects you to the other site.

me: ehh? impossible! ANY file in the cgi-bin/atc/ dir redirects, so
its 100% a server setting and NOT in the script ... besides;
***.com is a XOXOXO site - why shud that trade script
redir to a - for the script - unknown site? doesnt make sense
at all ... someone hit me up plz: icq ###### ...

me: hey, simply try to load ANY file in the cgi-bin/atc/ dir and you
will ALWAYS be redirected to ***.com ... why dont you
look at the server config to check if cgi-bin is enabled?! it is
NOT a script error, but a server setting ... its plain to see so
why do ya think its the script?

what a pain in the ass ... still no-one on icq how dumb can support be?
