I'm not an accountant, nor do I play one on TV, but I don't think you can write off more than the actual expense of obtaining it, unless, as quoted from Moniker, you have donated the domain to a charity. In that case, you could claim it at its appraised value.
But that is the only case I am aware of where you can claim more than you paid for it.
