Stories like this makes you want to adopt the pet
Miss Kitty Fantasico - Pichica: DSH, tortoiseshell, female, spayed, vaccinated, DOB April 15, 2006.
Pichica was surrendered to the Toronto Humane Society after she fell eight floors off an apartment balcony and her owners could not afford to take her to a vet. Miraculously, Pichica only broke her left front leg and dislocated her right hip. The vets immediately repaired her leg with surgical plates and attempted to repair her hip. Despite several tries, her hip would not heal and her back leg needed to be amputated. She gets around very well on three legs and can run and jump just as well as a kitty with all four.
Pichica is a very social kitty and is always up for meeting new people. Despite her social nature, she seems to get very attached to "her person". Every night when her foster mom climbs into bed, Pichica hops right up after her, meows her a bed time story, gives her a lick on the nose, and then settles in at the foot of the bed for the night. She loves to sit quietly beside you on the couch and will happily knead your thigh until she curls up into a ball for a nap. She can get overstimulated when pet too much or too close to her amputation site, and will give a warning growl. The signs that she has had enough are very easy to read, but she would do best with an experienced cat owner that can give her space when she needs it. She would be okay with another laid back kitty if introduced slowly, but would prefer to be your one and only. Pichica has learned to tolerate the lazy dog in her foster home, but would not like active dogs or children. Pichica is a loving and loyal companion that would blossom in a quiet home.
Pichica is lucky to be alive and is now looking for a safe home when she can begin her new life.
