PC2700 Ram OR PC3200 Ram, Heatspreader OR Not ?

Hey people, I'm just checking to see what your opinions are on the ram situation. First off, I recently got a new motherboard and am gonna finally get rid of this PC2100 ram and step up, but I'm torn with options here, ha ha ha.

First off, on my motherboard will handle up to 2-gigs of PC2700 or 1-gig of PC3200, so I'm kinda thinking about just buying three 512 meg sticks of PC2700 ram giving me 1.5-gigs of ram. Would you say that it's better to have that or 1-gig or PC3200 ram ?? From what I've been reading around in reviews, sites say that the PC3200 ram doesn't show much improvement in most cases, so that's why I ask.

ALSO, there's the heatspreader niche going on. Do you think that it's worth paying the extra for the heatspreaders. I don't overclock my stuff, so if that's the only reason to have it, then I don't need it

Any input would be appreciated.
