Illegal tubes that scrape entire mem areas, or off other tubes and change aff codes, etc etc are a huge problem, as are pirates (torrents) et al. In fact, just about every (excellent) point made in this thread is a factor; taken together and it's devastating.
I like Ruff's idea of 'disabling' a .jpg or Flash file the instant it leaves your server as a way of protection. Someone tries to download something - poof! The image 'self-destructs' or disintegrates, or pixelates, something. Run every bit through a server 'filter' where you have total control and....I dunno. I'm not a programmer (obviously). But c'mon designers/programmers/smart people! Think of something like in Mission: Impossible. 'This jpg will self-destruct in five...four...three.."
