Those prices are not what the insurance company would see. Most likely the higher price is what they try to charge the non-insured. Meanwhile the insurance companies pay much much less.
That's how it works in the pharmacy industry. Something that you go get a prescription for that will cost you $100 if you pay out of your pocket, cost the insurance companies maybe $30. They try to slip in the higher prices on people with co-pay as well. Meaning the insurance company will pay much less than what your co-pay will show meanwhile you are still getting hosed at the inflated price.
The health care/insurance industry in this country is an absolute scam.
