Lottery = tax on the stupid, and this case is further evidence of that. The state can and will do whatever to siphon your money, including tell you a winning ticket isn't a winning ticket. After all, the news story brought up a good argument - what about misprints going the other way, ones that look like losers but are "misprints" and are in fact winners? How many of those would be cashed? 0...none of them. So that argument to not pay someone on a winning ticket is horseshit because they're gaining every penny possible from the reverse situation, which would happen just as much if misprints are truly naturally-occurring accidents.
