Pastors found guilty in federal tax evasion case; sentencing upcoming
CHARLOTTE — Harriet Porter-Jinwright and Anthony Leroy Jinwright, pastors at Greater Salem City of God, were found guilty May 3, in U.S. District Court on several counts of tax evasion and one count of conspiracy.
Greater Salem City of God, once Greater Salem Baptist Church, is the oldest African-American church in Charlotte and is located on Salem Church Road, in the Mountain Island area. The Jinwrights also founded a second church, Greater Salem City of God at the Lake, in Huntersville, as well as two funeral homes, both in Charlotte.
