Pretty much. We elect one group and after a while they tend to end up bloated and corrupt and we get sick of them for one reason or another, so we then elect the other group and they end up the same way so we then go back to the first group again, but they are the same as they were before so nothing ever changes.
The thing that amazes me that is that the parties continue to run on the same platforms, platforms they have failed to deliver on in the past and people still believe this time it will actually happen.
I liken it to how people sometimes are when they break up with someone. They leave that person because the person was driving them crazy. Then a few weeks/months later they miss the person and consider going back with them. It seems like all they can remember is the good stuff and happy times. They don't remember that person driving them insane and annoying the hell out of them. they don't remember the bad stuff, just the good stuff. The same with politics.
Currently the republicans are running on a platform of balancing the budget and being fiscally responsible. It is the same platform they ran on in 2000 yet failed to deliver on. Somehow they want people to believe that this time they will actually deliver. The funny thing is people believe them and will vote for them.
