BP always waits until the weekend to say something has failed. Less press that way. Not to mention when Obama arrives on Fridays they don't want him to have ammunition when another failure has just happened. Same with the top kill, same with the top hat, etc.
It's been this way week after week.
I'm assuming with this cap they will claim it is working for most of next week until people start asking for the exact amount of oiling making it to surface ships, at which point BP will have to admit it's only a small fraction.
