Photo: light. Graph: a diagram or medium. Photography = the graphing or diagraming of light. The more light the better, or at least the more choices of what to do with that light. So shooting outside is the obvious choice of any photographer or videographer to utilize more choices. I worked in mainstream film as a "Grip" doing subjective, reflective, and non-electical lighting and went to "The Hollywood Film Institute" and sold my first photograph when I was 12 years old so I know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2. And a few things thing have been, and will remain the same: 1. You can't move or stop the sun. 2. You also cannot move the background. 3. The simplest solution - is film in the can - or money in the bank.

Now, the light here in this location is perfect and in the forefront @ 6:30AM to about 10:20AM - hardly model work hours and not enough time to squeeze out the most of the work day and get as many sets as posible. I could use a reflector, or a number of reflectors, but they are a hassle and getting someone to direct them is also expensive and anoying. So, the simplest solution is - LIGHTS! A flash on camera is quick and easy, although it doesn't have nearly the power I need to utilize my high F-stops and quick shooting style. I like to follow the model and not interupt her flow, not her to follow me. I also could have used my interior strobes outdoors, which I prefer, but the sprinklers were set on a timer that went off every 4 hours and my gardener wasn't due till the end of the week. I have a difuser on my SB-800's for my Nikon but for some reason it wasn't meetering the light correctly and burning out batteries every 50 shots so I used it on full power. Maybe you can come over and lend me your gear and teach me how to shoot and I'll get the pictures you desire. Oh, wait, I know... you cannot afford bus money and your Mom is tapped out till her next welfare check. Guess I'm fucked until then. Toodles!
