I do feel that it's important to have seperation of powers. Legislative, to make the laws. Executive, to enforce the laws. Judicial, to interpret the law.

It's strange that police are almost a pseudo branch. We dont really think of them as part of any of those three, but they play a role AS IF they are all three at times. Thats when it goes wrong.

All you can really do is remember to vote, and dont just pick some name you recognize. If you feel your police is bad, elect a new mayor I guess. Propose laws and such.
