We didn't use them as human shields, it's what they become when you hand out food/water to them in areas that you would normally be attacked. I'm simply stating what the reality of what they are - you're the one acting as if we held them up to take bullets for us.
I'm sure the one or two times you gave them your food/water because you were nice, doesn't really count... however you did give them out on patrol as well and were ordered to do (documented in the media, live video, and military video) so and if you didn't directly, you damn well know someone that did.
And again, the reality is... when children were around, the bullets and bombs stopped.
