You obviously completely missed my point. "I'm going to kill your mother" is just a series of words, (just sounds actually), strung together in a certain way. Our society has decided that those sounds, strung together in a certain way, constitute a threat, which is why you perceive it as one. If "words were just words", then there would be no threat there for you to interpret from those words. Our society has also determined that certain words mean other things, some of them offensive. Each society on the planet has a certain agreed upon set of meetings for a certain set of sounds.
If you don't understand that then I don't know what else to say. Maybe I'm just going over your head on this one.
