The windshield helps a ton. I used to do that shit sans windshield and it was like a blast furnace for sure. This was not too bad which is probably why it kicked my ass. I did not realize how dehydrated I was getting.
We took 45 minutes longer to get home. Even though it was a lot cooler we stopped a lot more frequently and hydrated.
