My uncle is in his mid 60's. He got sick (probably the flu) and wasn't feeling too well. While sick he climbed up on a step ladder to reach something and fell off of it. He knocked the wind out of himself and for three days after had trouble breathing. He thought it was the flu and maybe he bruised a rib in the fall. He decided to tough it out instead of going to the doctor. On the fourth day he starts having some serious trouble breathing so he goes to the hospital. It turns out when he fell he broke a rib and slightly punctured a lung. So for three days he was walking around with a punctured lung then the lung partially collapsed. They had to rush him into surgery to fix it.
He's fine now, but scared the hell out of all of us. Nobody even knew he was sick or fell so out of the blue we get a call from the hospital that he is having emergency surgery.
Stubborn old bastard
