I agree with your conclusion but I disagree with the reasoning. The reason I'm disappointed with the health care law was not because there's no public option. The problem is that there's no interstate competition and no malpractice reform or standardization. You nailed it on the head that it is the worst of both worlds--compulsory insurance but no real mechanism to lower rates.
