Actually his audience is BIGGER now then it used to be when he was on terrestrial radio, now he can (and is) heard in places that never had an affiliate station to play his show, then there is also the 'streaming' of his 2 chans here and there on the web.
The main reason people assume that he no longer has that big of an audience anymore is that he just doesn't pull the mainstream press as much these days since there is no Stern Vs ________ battles going on. years ago he was always fighting with someone and drew lots of press, now he's kind of dropped off the media radar (a bit) but his show still pulls in listeners.
Tune in here and there and check google trends against whatever the show topic is at the time
